SA Royal Commission

Privacy policy

Updated 31 October 2026

SA Royal Commission is an independent community campaign. This policy explains how the campaign handles information supplied through its petition, letters and support forms.

Who manages your information

The campaign organisers manage information collected through this website. The signed support form concerns the work of Lisa O’Malley and Lucas Hope. Signed agreements are provided privately to the campaign organisers through the campaign inbox. Campaign enquiries and privacy requests go to hello@saroyalcommission.com.au.

What we collect

Depending on the form, we collect your name, email address, postcode, optional suburb, support choices, public-display preference, the wording you agree to and submission time. A support agreement includes the signature image you draw. A letter includes its subject, text and delivery status.

The website also processes technical information needed to run the service and limit misuse. The submission service uses a hashed connection address for intake limits. It does not use your signature for biometric identity verification.

How we use it

We use your information to record campaign support, deliver the messages or signed agreement you request, manage your choices, respond to requests and protect the service. Signing a petition does not by itself subscribe you to updates. Campaign-update permission is a separate, unticked choice.

For the support form, you confirm your email address before the signed agreement is forwarded. Your confirmation email and receipt include an unsubscribe link.

Who receives it

A signed agreement is sent privately to the organisers’ campaign inbox and a copy to the confirmed email address you supplied. It includes your name, selected agreements, signature image and consent record.

Petition details may be presented to the Premier where the petition form explains this and you consent. Public supporter lists contain only reviewed names and postcodes where public display was chosen. Emails, drawn signatures, private letters, private records and test records are not published on that list.

The website’s Premier-letter feature currently sends only to a campaign test inbox. It does not send letters to the Premier.

Storage and providers

The live website uses Cloudflare for hosting, submission processing and database storage. The campaign inbox uses Apple iCloud Mail. Email copies can also be retained in that inbox. Providers may process information outside Australia; we do not promise that all handling is limited to Australia.

Security and retention

Private records are restricted to authorised campaign administration and providers needed to operate the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

We keep information while it is needed to record campaign support, carry out your requested delivery or manage your contact choices. We may retain consent and suppression records to honour those choices. The organisers review retained records and handle removal requests manually. The organisers handle access, correction, withdrawal and removal requests; records may also remain in email copies and provider backups until those are removed or expire.

Your choices and unsubscribing

You can choose not to submit a form, leave optional support choices unticked, and keep your petition name off the public list. You can ask for access to or correction of your records, removal of a public name or withdrawal of support.

Unsubscribe from campaign updates at any time. Unsubscribing does not require a drawn signature, new agreement or login. It does not automatically delete earlier agreements or withdraw a petition signature. A minimal suppression record is kept so the contact preference can be honoured.

Privacy requests and complaints

Write to hello@saroyalcommission.com.au with your request or concern. The organisers may need to confirm your identity before sharing or changing private records.

Children and sensitive information

These forms are for campaign support, not reporting abuse or seeking emergency help. Do not include children’s names, identity documents, private case files, medical information or identifying allegations about another person. Draw your own signature only.

Changes

This policy will be updated when the forms or information-handling practices change. The date above identifies this version.
